Pause
We have had to let Peanut go, go to that great green pasture, where she joins Sally G. Pig in a forever green field.
We saw Peanut one day just staring into a corner of her large cage, which she shared with her cousins, Milli and Pumpkin. I thought she was having teeth problems, but couldn't see any problem with her teeth. However, we did take her in and the vet examined her and she had a heart murmur. And apparently for some time, she had been having some swelling in her chest. I had not noticed it because, well guinea pigs aren't naturally svelte.
Peanut got more swollen, even with the diuretics and antibiotics and heart medicine. And by the second week, she was not eating. It was very obvious that her teeth were really bothering her. She had to have her teeth filed down because she wasn't eating enough to keep them worn down and when she went under the anesthesia, she never came back out.
We all cried our eyes out, and in the backyard, we buried her next to Sally.
